A little bit more…
Sonia Illner has created her whole life but only in the last years been able to focus her attention (almost) entirely on her creativity. In this newest iteration, her heart is dedicated almost exluscily to watercolours, and sometime gouache of course. With a love of nature, patterns, and the experiences of travel and living abroad, she creates art that first and foremost capturing innocent joy. Her work often done in young and playful colours seems to capture an essence of childlike spirit, standing as a reminder of simpler times and evoking a sense of nostalgia for those caught in her art’s wonderful shine.
Journaling is a vital part of Sonia’s artistic process as she documents moments of her life through rich colourful sketches paired with verbal observations of that moment to capture the whole essence of each day. The sketched and words associated with those moments are then used to influence the work she creates in the studio.
Recently, she has begun inviting both professionals and novices (but most importantly, those who are passionate and curious) to learn about the joys watercolour. Sonia shares her knowledge and expertise through intimate in-person classes.
